Sales Balancing Rules

Sales Balancing Rules allow users to set a maximum number of items that can be purchased by customers or sold by salespeople within a given range of time. These function similar to allocations, but are more efficient to implement and can also affect salespeople.

Exceptions can also be entered that allow an increased or decreased limit for specific salespeople and/or customers.

Alert

Sales Balancing Rules will only affect orders entered on mobile devices. Entering an order through the eoStar backend will ignore all balancing rules.

How to Set Up Sales Balancing Rules

  1. Go to Records > Customer > Sales balancing rules.
  2. Click New.
  3. Specify the record number, either by selecting the provided number or creating your own.
  4. Enter the Name of the rule.
  5. Click Save.
  6. Open the Config panel.
  7. Select the From date.
  8. Select the Thru date.
  9. Assign the Customer limit.
    • This is the maximum amount of product each customer assigned to the rule is allowed to buy during the rule period.
    • It is limited to 2-digit numbers.
  10. Assign the Salesperson limit.
    • This is the maximum amount of product each salesperson assigned to the rule is allowed to sell across all customers during the rule period.
    • It is limited to 3-digit numbers.
  11. Select the Rule Period.
    • Per Day – The rule only considers sales made in a single day.
    • Per Week – The rule considers sales made during each week.
    • Per Month – The rule considers sales made during each month.
    • Entire Period – The rule considers sales made during the rule’s entire date range.
      Example

      If the Rule Period is per week, the customer limit is 50, and the salesperson limit is 500, then each salesperson can sell 500 total quantity each week, with a maximum of 50 going to each customer.

  12. Enter a Note about the rule. (optional)
  13. Use the Customer filter to select the customers the rule applies to.
  14. Add product(s) to the rule:
    1. Add by Item
      1. Select the Item.
      2. Select the Pack.
      3. Click Add Selected.
    2. Add via Selector
      1. Use the Product filter to select the products to add.
        • This option only includes primary packs.
      2. Click Add Selected.
  1. Click Post.

Panels

Exceptions Panel

This panel is used to enter salesperson- and/or customer-specific limits that will override the normal limits of the rule. Exceptions can either grant an increased limit or decreased limit.

Salespersons Tab

  1. Select the Employee to enter an exception for.
  2. Enter the Qty for the selected employee.
  3. Click Add.

 

Customers Tab

  1. Select the Customer to enter an exception for.
  2. Enter the Qty for the selected customer.
  3. Click Add.

Reports Panel

This panel shows any reports related to Sales Balancing Rules. For more information, see the Reports Panel article.


Sales Balancing Notifications

When a salesperson attempts to enter an order that exceeds a sales balancing rule limit, they will receive an error message.
